I am on a cocktail kick and loving it! Creating my own cocktail recipes has been so fun and refreshing. Every party, event, or long stressful day deserves a fancy drink. Plan ahead and make this pineapple sangria a day in advance for the best flavor. The individual flavors from the ripe pineapple, strawberries, and rose syrup will pop, making this the best white wine sangria you’ve ever tasted.
I had so much fun creating my holiday drink series that I decided to extend it over to Valentine’s Day and beyond. Now that summer is almost here, it’s a great time to get a head start on the refreshing beverages you’ll want to drink all season long! These are some of my favorite non-alcoholic drinks that are great for warmer weather:
Traditional Spanish red wine sangria is made with apples, oranges, orange juice or soda, or other citrus fruits like lime and lemon, peaches, and apples. Berries and other fruit juice are sometimes added, and maybe some extra sugar for sweetness. Traditional sangria is great for the fall, so I switched it up a bit to make this the perfect spring and summer drink.
Best White Wine for a Sangria
I use an inexpensive pinot grigio for this white sangria recipe, but feel free to use your favorite dry white wine like sauvignon blanc, a bubbly champagne, or even a dry rosé. I like a crisp white wine to pack a punch and balance out the sweetness of the fruits and syrup.
Can you make a non-alcoholic sangria?
Try a zero-proof pinot grigio. Or you can substitute the wine for ginger ale, San Pellegrino, club soda, or other sparkling water. Brandy is also used in this recipe, but feel free to omit or substitute with something like cherry juice. This refreshing, fruity, floral drink really comes together by using ingredients like fresh pineapple and strawberries. It’s even better if you can pick the strawberries from the garden! My secret ingredient is rose syrup.
How to make white wine sangria
Step one: Chop half of a pineapple into small chunks. Use the core as well; or save it along with the pineapple skin to make a refreshing and healthy pineapple skin tea. Chop two cups of strawberries and add all the fruit to a large pitcher.
Step two: To the fruit, add one 1/2 cup of brandy (Martell’s cognac), and one 1/2 cup of rose syrup. If you’re planning to drink this sangria immediately, muddle the fruit with the liquids, but leave some fruit whole.
Step three: Pour two 750ml bottles of pinot grigio into the pitcher, and stir gently. Refrigerate overnight, or for at least one hour for all the flavors to meld; the fruits will infuse the drink to be oh-so-refreshing for a hot summer day!
Step four: Pour into your favorite glasses, garnish with a fruit slice, and pair with your favorite savory dish like this creamy pasta with vegan scallops. Do or don’t serve the sangria over ice. I usually don’t because it can water the sangria down.

Pineapple Rose White Wine Sangria
Refreshing and delicious white wine sangria made with fresh pineapple and strawberries, and a homemade rose syrup. This fruit sangria tastes like summer!
Ingredients
- 1/2 ripe pineapple chopped into small chunks
- 2 cups fresh strawberries chopped into small chunks
- 1/2 cup brandy I use Martell’s
- 1/2 cup rose simple syrup recipe here
- 2 750ml bottles of pinot grigio or other dry white or rose wine
Instructions
Add fresh fruit to a tall pitcher then pour the brandy and simple syrup over it. Stir gently.
Pour in the 2 bottles of wine, and stir well.
Let the sangria sit overnight for the best flavor, or for at least one hour.
Notes
Want to drink it right away?
The best sangria has a chance to sit overnight so the flavors can blend and balance. If you don’t have time, and need to drink it right away (or within an hour), muddle the fresh fruit with the brandy and simple syrup before adding the white wine. Enjoy it right away, or let it chill for an hour before serving.
Non-alcohol version
Use non-alcoholic wine instead of normal pinot grigio. Or replace the wine with sparkling water, or ginger ale (will be sweeter).
